Sorry I'm a bit late with introducing the tournament Brisbane International (the first one of the year!). I hope you can forgive me in exchange for a decent summary of 2011 in my last post. So here it is:
Brisbane consists of first round - second round - quarter final - semifinal - final.
So let's start with an analyse of the draw:
- Stosur seeded first, I hope she reaches the quarter final to set up a match against Clijsters (should be interesting!) if Clijsters can win a second round match against Ivanovic. With 4-0 wins in her favor, hopefully it shouldn't be too hard (but a little suspension is always nice!).
- I see no one else than Serena Williams reaching the quarter final (and semifinal for that matter) in the other half of the upperdraw.
- The downdraw promises more excitement with seeded players: Jankovic, Schiavone, Pavlyuchenkova and Petkovic. Interesting second round matchs: Schiavone - Voskoboeva (last US Open they produced a tough three setter in the first round but Schiavone won eventually and I don't see it being different this time either) and Pavly - Kaia Kanepi (the only time Kapeni won dates back to 2008 but let's see if it can't be a surprising three setter).
So my predicting for the quarter finals: Stosur - Clijsters, Serena Williams - Hantuchova, Jankovic - Schiavone and Pavly - Petkovic (I'm going with the great class of the seeded players, it seems).
Let's see if I'm right, so keep yourself posted!
