It's was an absolute blast at the end of Madrid!
Two words for the quarter final match between Sharapova and Serena Williams: cold war! They didn't show any emotion or weakness, except for complete focus to annihilate each other. It maybe very hot in Madrid, but that match felt absolutely cold. Serena proved the better server and time after time had break points on the shaky Sharapova serve. Eventually Serena had it quite easy against the number two: 6-1, 6-3 and so Williams is on fire to gain the title at Madrid!
There will be another Radwanska - Azarenka semifinal here, after Azarenka came back a set down against Na Li (3-6, 6-3, 6-3) and Radwanska battled past Lepchenko: 6-4, 6-4. It's time Radwanska finally gets a break from the number one!
The last quarter final featured Stosur against Hradecka. The 26-year old Czech made quite an impression in this match (and the tournament for that matter!). She knew just what to do with Stosur's kick serve (how funny does she look on that photo?!) The match was so close, resulting in two tiebreaks to decide the matter. Score was: 7-6(8), 7-6(6) for Hradecka! She'll face Serena Williams next in the semi's.

I'm not gonna dwell on the Azarenka's match against Radwanska, it's just becoming too painful! The Pole didn't seem any closer to cracking the number one, so I'm just hoping somebody else does it for her. Score was: 6-2, 6-4.
Williams had quite a struggle in the first set against Hradecka. Both players managed to hold their serve (I'm even gonna say Hradecka's serve looked better than Serena's!) so a tiebreak (yet again) had to decide. Williams held her cool and took the lead 4-1. The Czech tried to get back into it, but lost ultimately 7-6(5). From then on, Serena didn't waste any time to set up a meeting between the number one. She finished the second set 6-0 in no time.
And I finally got the final I was hoping for: the number one against Serena Williams! This was the big test Azarenka had to pass to truly proof she's the best. In the end I thought the number one disappointed. She hit a lot of unforced errors and lost her temper in the second set. Score was: 6-1, 6-3 in little over an hour. I hope there will be rematch soon to quench my thirst!
I loved Serena's facial expression when she got the trophee (seriously, what is it?!)
Next up is the tournament in Rome, keep posted!
With the blue underground it is like they are jumping in a pool or something:). Good question: what is that trophee?!
