The eight quarter finalists for Madrid are: Azarenka (no surprise there!), Na Li, Radwanska, Lepchenko (after Bartoli's loss, this side of the draw cracked open!), Stosur (yeey!), Hradecka, Serena Williams and Sharapova.
Now I hope you wonder, where did Kvitova go? Or Wozniacki?
Well, Kvitova was outplayed by Hradecka in the second round: 4-6, 3-6. Because the number three had a lot of points to defend (she won last year in Madrid), she dropped a spot on the WTA ranking in favor of ... Radwanska! Don't be too surprised, actually Radwanska is very deserving of that spot. She has played fantastic since the Asian Tour last year (winning both in Tokyo & Beijing) and this year she just lost five matches to ... Azarenka! I do hope we're going to see an awesome battle for the number three and two spots, because I don't think Azarenka is going anywhere soon!
I was dying for a rematch between Serena Williams and Wozniacki (since she won 6-2, 6-4 at the Sony Ericsson Open) and I didn't had to beg for long to the tennisgods because they had to play the third round against each other! First up: what's going on with Serena's hair?!
I think it's rather humid in Madrid, it's almost turning into this (gets me laughing each time!):
Right, back to tennis! It was actually a quite strange match between Wozniacki and Serena. Wiliams dominated the entire match but still Wozniacki won the first set 6-1. The Dane was being agressive and certainly had a lot of good luck (nothing to do with her matching the Spanish flag?). But Serena got back in control in the second set after winning 12 points in a row, going from 2-2 to 4-2. Score was: 1-6, 6-3, 6-2.
