We're in the second week of the French Open and that calls for some (fun) analyzing! And whatever those French Roland Garros people proclaim, fourth round is NOT quarterfinals! Just to make that clear.
So who is in the fourth round?
- Azarenka (1) vs. Cibulkova (15)
- Stephens vs. Stosur (6)
- Kuznetsova (26) vs. Errani (21)
- Kerber (10) vs. Martic
- Na Li (7) vs. Shvedova
- Lepchenko vs. Kvitova (4)
- Rus vs. Kanepi (23)
- Zakopalova vs. Sharapova (2)
So from the top ten seeded players we had to say goodbye to: Radwanska (crushed by Kuznetsova), Serena Williams (defeated by French woman Razzano), Bartoli (lost to Martic), Wozniacki (defeated by Kanepi).
And it isn't just me, a lot of people picked up on the tremendous drop-outs of seeded players. All because of ... the Olympics! Especially Stephens and Lepchenko were battling for a spot in London (and it's looking good for them now!).
With all those weird plot twists, I'm going to stop making absolutely bogus predictions, lay back, watch and enjoy!
But that was the serious part, let's watch at some 'Road to Roland Garros' clips! Ever wondered how Stosur sounds when she's yelling 'I love Paris!' out of a car, this is your chance! For Bartoli's & Razzano's videos, just select the 'cc'-button beneath the clip to get the subtitles.
Now, let's talk about the outfits on Roland Garros. I have to say, what's up with all the yellow, pink and orangeness? All the great sport designers thought they would make the players look like smoothies?
My personal top 3 is:
1) Ivanovic = sure everything looks good on her, but she rocks this outfit better than McHale or Rus (although it brought more luck to her because we will see her again with it in the fourth round!)
2) Sharapova = it's a bold move going in black (with a few touches of green), but it's a welcome antidote for the cheery-colors-catastrophe!
1) Venus = she's a great designer and I have to say, her dresses may not look very comfortable but hell, they look amazing!
Didn't get enough of the outfits? You can check these two posts on the SI.com: French Open Fashion Fails and Fashion Hits.
